HP DeskJet 2700, 2700e, 4100, 4100e Printers – Wireless Setup

Use HP Smart or Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) to connect your printer to a wireless network.

Prepare for Installation

  1. Get Ready: Ensure you have a compatible computer or mobile device with internet access.

  2. Check Connections: Make sure your router and computer or mobile device are powered on.

  3. Turn On Printer: Ensure the printer is on and positioned near the computer and within range of the router.

  4. Setup Printer: Load paper into the input tray and install the ink cartridges.

Connect the Printer to Your Wireless Network

  • Using HP Smart: Connect the printer to your network via HP Smart on a Windows 10 or macOS computer, or on Android or iOS devices.

    • For Android:

      1. Prepare: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled and download HP Smart from http://123.hp.com.

      2. Printer Setup: On the printer, press and hold the Cancel and Wireless buttons for 3 seconds until the Power button blinks for about 10 seconds and the Wireless button blinks continuously.

      3. Connect: Open HP Smart on your Android device, tap the Plus sign, and select your printer from the list with 'Setup' in its name. Follow the instructions to enter your network password.

      4. Completion: The Wireless light on the printer should turn solid blue, indicating a successful connection.

    • For iOS:

      1. Prepare: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled and download HP Smart from http://123.hp.com.

      2. Printer Setup: On the printer, press and hold the Cancel and Wireless buttons for 3 seconds until the Power button blinks for about 10 seconds and the Wireless button blinks continuously.

      3. Connect: Open HP Smart on your iOS device. If prompted by a setup notification, tap it, or tap the Plus sign to add your printer. Select HP DeskJet 2700/4100 series and follow the on-screen instructions to connect.

      4. Completion: The Wireless light on the printer should turn solid blue, indicating a successful connection.

    • For Windows 10:

      1. Prepare: Turn on the printer and download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store.

      2. Printer Setup: On the printer, press and hold the Cancel and Wireless buttons for 3 seconds until the Power button blinks for about 10 seconds and the Wireless button blinks continuously.

      3. Connect: Open HP Smart on your computer, click the Plus sign, and select your printer from the list. Enter your network password when prompted.

      4. Completion: The Wireless light on the printer should turn solid blue. Click Continue > Exit Setup.

    • For macOS:

      1. Prepare: Turn on the printer and download HP Smart from the App Store.

      2. Printer Setup: On the printer, press and hold the Cancel and Wireless buttons for 3 seconds until the Power button blinks for about 10 seconds and the Wireless button blinks continuously.

      3. Connect: Open HP Smart on your computer, click the Plus sign, and select your printer from the list. Enter your network password when prompted.

      4. Completion: The Wireless light on the printer should turn solid blue. Click Continue > Exit Setup.

  • Using WPS:

    1. Prepare: Turn on the printer and locate the WPS button on your router (do not press it yet).

    2. Printer Setup: Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for 3 seconds until it starts blinking.

    3. Connect: Press and hold the WPS button on your router for 3-5 seconds. The printer will attempt to connect.

    4. Completion: The Wireless light on the printer will turn solid blue if the connection is successful.

  • Using Wi-Fi Direct:

    1. Print Help Page: Print a Wi-Fi Direct Help page by pressing the Information and Resume buttons simultaneously.

    2. Enable Wi-Fi Direct: Press the Information, Wireless, and Resume buttons together to activate Wi-Fi Direct.

    3. Connect: On your computer’s Wi-Fi settings, select your printer (e.g., HP=DIRECT<89-HP DeskJet 2700/4100 series).

    4. Complete: Follow the instructions for setting up the printer connection with your Windows computer.

If the printer does not appear in the wireless network list, disable and re-enable Wi-Fi settings on your computer and try again.
